With so many creatives living in Amsterdam, it’s no surprise that a good number of specialty coffee brewers have opened shop in recent years to keep everyone well-caffeinated. The Dutch are one of the few citizens who average drinking over two cups of coffee per day! Here’s a few places to get your own daily coffee fix before getting lost along Amsterdam’s winding canals:
Lot Sixty One
This popular corner café run by a native New Yorker takes freshness very seriously, roasting all their coffee in-house at the crack of dawn. Go here before grabbing lunch at Amsterdam’s trendy Foodhallen just a block away. Warning: the space is tiny so arrive early if you want a seat!

At Sweet Cup, coffee is considered a craft. The shop even provide beans for other well known cafés like Back to Black. Keep an eye out for the owner’s sweet dog Sjefke, who has been known to make an appearance!

Coconuts aren’t exactly the first thing that comes to mind when you think of coffee or Amsterdam, but this charming café brings island-style decor to the center of the city. Housed in a former cinema from the 1920s, this sprawling café is the perfect place to meet friends and relax.
The only thing better than sipping on artisanal coffee is getting some top-quality food alongside it. One of the owners formerly worked in the kitchen of a Michelin-starred restaurant, and brought his culinary expertise to the shop’s food menu. Pop in after a visit to the iconic street fair Albert Cuyp Market a few streets down.
Toki is a bright café located a short walk from the main train station in Amsterdam, making it a convenient place to grab a coffee before or after a day trip in the Netherlands. It’s also nearby the shopping strip Haarlemmerdijk.
Bocca became known for roasting and supplying coffee to local restaurants and coffee shops in the Netherlands over a decade ago. Last year, the brother-duo opened up a storefront and showroom on Kerkstraat to reach consumers directly. Visit Bocca to try fresh coffee sourced from faraway places like Cabo Verde, off the coast of Africa.
