Have you ever tried to do something but given up half way through your goal? Us, too. It’s hard to keep it up sometimes, but have you ever tried sticking at something for just 30 days? You can also do a career detox for just a week, click here to find out how.
It’s such a simple concept, you try something new for 30 days, whether it be starting a blog, taking up jogging or even just not drinking for the month. I decided to try it out after watching this TED talk by the head of Google’s web team Matt Cutts. He claims that: “If you really want something badly enough you can do anything for 30 days”.
You could give up sugar, write a short novel or even just wake up that little bit earlier. Whatever it may be, give it your all and you will succeed. Setting yourself a challenge and completing it can make you feel pretty damn amazing. 30 days is the perfect amount of time, it’s not so long that it’s unrealistic, yet it’s long enough to push yourself and really get stuck into whatever it is you have decided to do.
My idea was simple, I wanted to drink more water, it’s not earth shattering but it’s still a challenge! For 30 days I planned on drinking 3 liters of water every single day to improve my skin and increase my energy and general wellbeing. It was tough but I stuck with it and now its just part of my everyday routine. This proves that it doesn’t have to be anything out of reach or impossible to achieve, but if you just set yourself a new challenge you can really focus and make a positive change in your life.
