1. Shopping list
You always need a plan. A good way to make one is to study the market and runway shows to spot the trends and specific items that you want to invest in that season. Then, identify which online shops stock those finds and bookmark each.
2. Keep an eye on it
Check on the items several times per week, and If you see an item selling out fast, buy it. If something isn’t selling so fast, frequently monitor to see when it goes on sale and purchase then. Keep in mind that the best time to shop for seriously discounted items is in July for Spring and Summer, and January for Fall and Winter.
3. Know your measurements
We all know that sizes vary depending on the brand and even the batch the products were made in. So, the easy way to check is by measuring your body (bust, waist, hips and inseam). Check this guide to help you measure. Also, look for item side notes to see if is true-to-size or smaller/bigger.
4. Check in motion
Nowadays, most of the online shops have a runway feature. Through this, you can actually see the item in motion; a more realistic view of the product in terms of proportion, color and fit.
5. Read the reviews.
Reviews are an extremely valuable piece of information since they give you real perspective on the piece. Look for comments relating to size, fit and quality of material to get a better idea of whether an item fits true to size, or if you’ll need to size up or down.
6. Give the return policies a second glance.
Be prepared and familiarize yourself with return policies before you order. Check the following things: free returns, how long you have to send the product back, exchanges, if returns can be made in store and if there is a restocking fee.
